Personal details
Sónia Martins is a Clinical Psychologist (professional card no. 9802), with a specialty in Clinical and Health Psychology and a sub-specialty in Psychogerontology, from the Portuguese Psychologists' Association. She has a degree in Psychology from the Instituto Superior da Maia - ISMAI (2001), a Master's in Psychology - Specialization in Psychological Assessment from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra - FPCEUC (2008) and a PhD in Gerontology from the Universities of Porto and Aveiro (2014). As part of the Doctoral Program, she was a PhD Research Fellowship (SFRH/BD/63154/2009) by the Foundation for Science and Technology/FCT (2010-2013). Subsequently, she was a Post-doctoral fellowship by FCT (SFRH/BPD/103306/2014) (2015-2018), at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS) and researcher (2019-2022) at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Mental Health of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto (FMUP). She is currently an Integrated Member in this research unit. Between February 2019 and September 2022, she was a at FMUP. She is an integrated member and researcher at this same research center, recently integrated into the RISE Associated Laboratory. She is also a collaborating researcher at the ISSSP's Centre for Research in Social Service Sciences (CICSS), which she currently coordinates. Her research interests are mainly related to clinical psychology, neuropsychology, ageing and mental health, and she has collaborated on various research projects in these areas, which have resulted in several publications of articles in international journals and communications at scientific congresses. In terms of academic activity, she has collaborated in the teaching of various curricular units in the area of neuropsychology and ageing in various higher education institutions. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the ISSSP, teaching on the Degree Course in Social Gerontology and on the Master's Degree in Social Gerontology.
