Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

The present Curricular Unit, situated within the scope of advanced training for Social Workers, aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the general perspectives of social psychology, emphasizing the contributions of Social Psychology to social intervention. Drawing upon applied research produced by contemporary social psychology, the organization of the contents allows for the development of integrated ways of critically thinking about theory and research in social psychology and promoting reflection on human action produced in social contexts.
This articulation between the contributions of social psychology and its levels of analysis in understanding social reality, at the level of intra-individual, interindividual, group, and intergroup processes, will enable students to understand the importance of social reality for the structuring of the human being, and how to promote intervention skills in the social sphere. Overall, the aim is to promote the acquisition of scientific knowledge and the development of professional skills that integrate knowledge from social psychology with those of social work.
