Research Center in Social Work Science

CICSS was founded in 2003 by the Instituto Superior de Serviço Social do Porto has the mission to spread, support, and boost research in the fields of social politics and social work.

1. Develop theoretical or applied studies in Social Policies, Social Work, Social Gerontology, and related areas, as well as promoting scientific research programs to obtain academic degrees.

2. Spread and spotlight developed research at ISSSP, supporting publications of scientific studies, encouraging the participation of researchers in scientific activities, and organizing conferences, seminars, and debates.

3. Encourage cooperation projects with other national or international Schools and Research Centers, focusing on collaborative research models.

4. Ensure the provision of services abroad, including studies and advising services to institutions with which ISSSP keeps pedagogical and professional relations in fields of Justice, Health, Social Security, Education, Territory, Company, Local Government, Marginality, Drug Addiction, Social Gerontology, and others.

5. Support initiatives to research projects, raising funds and guiding their creators, in order to obtain revenues that covers the current and the investment expenses.
